We are now approaching the point where 2-3 conferences tip off daily while other conferences move to the next round. It's going to start getting really fun now. 3 new conferences tip off today: Atlantic Sun, Missouri Valley (Arch Madness!) and West Coast conference. Additionally we'll have the following conferences continuing action: Atlantic 10, Big South and Ohio Valley. We are headed to a train wreck of losses today and I couldn't be happier. As always, keep reading as I'll do my best to highlight what to watch for in each conference as it relates to our pool.
Atlantic 10
We have 4 second round Atlantic 10 games starting at 10:00 AM central time and as a general basketball fan all of these look like great matchups. Only seeds 6-13 are in play, however that impacts 9 people in our pool between (8) Richmond and (6) George Mason. In order of when they play the 4 games are below.
- (9) Duquesne DEFEATS (8) Richmond
- (13) Saint Joseph's vs. (5) Massachusetts
- (10) Rhode Island vs. (7) Dayton
- (11) George Washington vs. (6) George Mason
8 people were knocked out of the A10 conference with this Richmond loss and no one, I mean NO ONE is madder than Robb! And yes, the standings are up to date though the Richmond loss.
Atlantic Sun
All Atlantic Sun teams are in play today as they are starting with the quarterfinals and looking at the matchups bumped up against our picks we can all escape without a loss. I hope we don't, but it can happen. In order of when they play the 4 games are below.
- (9) Kennesaw St vs. (1) Liberty
- (5) North Alabama vs. (4) North Florida
- (6) FGCU vs. (3) Lipscomb
- (7) Stetson vs. (2) Bellarmine
While we do have a few people on Bellarmine and Bellarmine can win the Atlantic Sun conference championship, they can not go to the NCAA tournament since they are still in the D1 transfer window. If Bellarmine wins the conference tournament the team that loses against them would go to the NCAA tournament.
Big South
The Big South is our 1st conference to move into the semifinals which means we'll have at least 1 loss guaranteed based on the matchups. Brad stands alone with (3) Campbell so we are all definitely rooting against him. In order of when they play the 2 games are below.
- (3) Campbell vs. (2) Radford
- (5) Longwood vs. (1) Winthrop
Missouri Valley
One of my favorite conferences tip off today with Arch Madness! Get ready for Sister Jean madness again. Normally this pool is all over the board with picks, but this year we are only on 3 teams: (1) Loyola Chicago, (2) Drake and (3) Missouri State. The 7-10 seeds are playing today so no one is going to lose a team.
Ohio Valley
The Ohio Valley conference decided to play the 1 and 2 seeds yesterday in round one and the 3-6 seeds today in round 1. Not sure why, but I'm sure twitter has the answer if you search. We could escape without any losses today based on the matchups. Our pool picks only include (5) Murray State and (3) Eastern Kentucky. In order of when they play the 2 games are below and these matchups are awesome with both spreads within 3 points!
- (5) Murray State vs. (4) Jacksonville State
- (6) Austin Peay vs. (3) Eastern Kentucky
West Coast
The 6-10 seeds will be in play today for the first round of West Coast conference tournament. No impact to our pool since no one picked anything other than (1) Gonzaga, (2) BYU or (3) Pepperdine.
