Big South Quarterfinals Results and Horizon League Preview

The Big South quarterfinals handed out the first batch of losses in our pool with both (6) Gardner-Webb and (4) UNC-Asheville getting knocked out tonight. (1) Winthrop, (2) Radford, (3) Campbell and (5) Longwood all move on to the semifinals with 25 out of 30 still alive in the Big South conference. The Big South semifinals will be played on Thursday, 3/4/21 and more pool losses are guaranteed.

I'm trying to finally get this right so here we go again, below are the links that will take you to the blog and standings. Yes, we do have a change in the standings with 5 people taking a loss tonight so it's worth checking out.

Standings (One Drive)

Let's take a look at our way too early top 4:

  • Heffron and Izzy went heavy on 3 and lower seeds putting them way above everyone else - for now
  • Ryan and SJS have a more reasonable spread on 3 and lower seeds
  • It doesn't take much early on to flip the standings so if you're in this snapshot go ahead and take it in!

Horizon League Preview

The only conference tournament action on tomorrow, Tuesday, 3/2/21 comes from the Horizon League, but just as we had in the Big South tonight, all the Horizon League teams are in action. The way matchups are set up we are guaranteed multiple pool losses which means we'll see more movement in the standings. 65% of the pool is on (2) Wright State with nobody on (8) Milwaukee so a Wight State loss would be pretty huge for those that have (1) Cleveland State, (3) Oakland, (4) Northern Kentucky, (5) Detroit or (6) Youngstown State.
